These are boats made almost entirely of naturally available materials. Their hulls are made of wood planks stitched together with coconut coir and their canopies are of cane.
Available in sizes ranging from 40ft to 85ft with single or two bedrooms and with or without upper deck. Chairs, tables, bed, mattress, pillows, sheets, towels, carpets, outboard engine, sanitary fittings & plumbing and water containers provided. Deluxe versions will have solar panels, battery, fans and CF lights. Bio-toilets can also be provided.
Each boat is put together according to individual touch. There are a variety of possibilities and hence specifications are not standardized.
Evolved over thirty years ago from the traditional cargo carrying kettuvallams (stitched boats), these boats have transformed into highly popular, eco-friendly pleasure boats. Innovative design and quality workmanship continue to be the watchwords in the making of these boats even today.
